THE CLIENT

A research centre website build for the ARC Training Centre in Critical Resources for the Future, bringing industry, four universities and government together on one clear site.

The ARC Training Centre in Critical Resources for the Future brings together industry, four of Australia’s leading universities, and state and federal governments to address the challenge of securing our future resources.

The client approached us for a website that could be easily managed by their team to handle the updating and changing of projects managed by the centre. The website will also be used as a tool to recruit researchers and PhD students.

GOALS

WHAT WE DID

We built the website on WordPress after understanding the client’s needs for the website features.

With projects involving four major universities, 3 research themes and 6 research programs, the projects had to be easy to find and filterable for a pleasant user interaction.

The Project Management system built into the backend with custom posts allowed for full customisation by the client without any need for website knowledge.

The website was optimised for responsiveness across various devices, ensuring seamless access and navigation for users on desktops, tablets, and smartphones.

THE RESULTS

The website was a resounding success, with the client expressing great satisfaction with both the final product and the process. They particularly appreciated the clear guidance provided on how to manage and update their website, ensuring they felt confident using it post-launch. The website’s design met the client’s goals by making complex projects easy to find and navigate, using intuitive filters.

Given the various moving parts—such as researchers, industry partners, and research themes—the site was carefully structured with custom post types and templates. This approach ensured that the relevant information dynamically pulled into the right sections, streamlining the process of setting up and editing projects. By creating a flexible and scalable platform, the website not only fulfilled the client’s immediate needs but also set them up for future growth.

This project demonstrated the importance of structuring content thoughtfully to accommodate ongoing updates, and it’s something I’m proud to have achieved for the client. Moving forward, the ARC Training Centre in Critical Resources for the Future will benefit from an easy-to-maintain and highly functional site that continues to support their mission in the critical minerals sector.

Research centre website build, made easy to maintain

A research centre website build has to serve very different audiences at once: industry partners, researchers, students and funders. The answer is a clear structure, a design that stays out of the way of the content and a WordPress build the centre’s own team can update without a developer. If your centre or institute needs the same, see our website design service or book a free 20-minute call.

Not sure what your right next move is?

That’s the point of the call.

20 minutes, free, no pitch-slapping. You’ll leave with at least one thing you can act on this week, whether you work with us or not.
