THE CLIENT
A college website rebuild for Wollaston Theological College, focused on removing friction from student enquiries and supporting course promotion, research and events.
Wollaston Theological College is a theological education provider focused on training students for ministry, research, and academic development.
They required a complete rebuild of their website to better support student enquiries, course promotion, research visibility, and event participation.
GOALS
- Increase student enrolments across courses and programmes
- Improve course and event promotion
- Drive enquiries for Ordained Ministry
- Introduce dedicated Research and Library sections
- Improve navigation and mobile usability
- Make the website easier for internal staff to manage
THE CHALLENGE
The existing website created friction at multiple points in the user journey:
- Limited information and unclear navigation made it hard for users to understand study options
- The enrolment pathway was unclear, relying heavily on a generic email as the main call to action
- Key course information was hosted externally on the University of Divinity website, pulling users away and exposing them to competing institutions
- No clear or visual explanation of the Anglischool programme
Overall, the website functioned more as a passive information source than an effective recruitment tool.
WHAT WE DID
We redesigned and rebuilt the Wollaston website with a focus on clarity, usability, and enquiry generation.
We replaced the generic enquiry approach with targeted contact forms embedded directly within course pages, allowing users to take action without needing to navigate away.
The website was built to be fully responsive and structured for easy internal management, allowing staff to update content without technical barriers.
New sections were created to better represent Wollaston’s full offering:
- Research pages to highlight academic work and opportunities
- Dedicated Library page to showcase resources and catalogue
THE RESULTS
The rebuilt website transformed Wollaston’s digital presence from a static site into a more strategic recruitment platform.
- Clearer student journey – visitors can now easily understand study options and how to enquire
- Improved conversion pathway – enquiry forms aligned with specific courses reduce friction
- Stronger content control – key information is now housed within the Wollaston site, not external platforms
- Better representation of the institution – research and library content position Wollaston as both a teaching and academic hub
- Future-ready platform – the site structure supports ongoing updates and growth
KEY TAKEAWAY
This project wasn’t just a visual redesign—it was a rebuild focused on removing friction in the enquiry process and aligning the website with enrolment goals.
By restructuring content, improving navigation, and embedding clear calls to action, the website now acts as a working recruitment tool, not just an information repository.
What a college website rebuild should deliver
A college website rebuild is a recruitment tool, not an information repository. Clear course pages, obvious calls to action and a structure that maps to how prospective students actually decide will do more for enrolments than any redesign for its own sake.
